Design Start vs. Initial Packet vs. Full Package: Which Kitchen Design Do You Need?
Choose a Design Start for a quick first layout, an Initial Packet when you need visuals to present to a homeowner, a Conversion when a design already exists in another cabinet line, and a Full Package when the job is ready to quote and order. Picking the right request type saves time for both you and the designer.
Request types compared
| Request type | What you get | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Design Start | Cabinet layout from your measurements | You need a fast price or a first conversation |
| Initial Packet | Floor plan, elevations and 3D renderings in a presentation PDF | You are meeting the homeowner to present |
| Design Start & Initial Packet | Layout and presentation packet in one request | First meeting needs visuals from day one |
| Conversion | Existing design rebuilt in your cabinet brand | A homeowner brings another dealer’s design |
| Full Package | Layout, elevations, renderings, cabinet list and native design file | The job is sold or ready to order |
| Other Services | Vanities, laundry, closets, bars, outdoor kitchens | The project goes beyond the kitchen |
What is a Design Start?
A Design Start is the first cabinet layout built from your measurements. It answers “what fits, and roughly what will it cost?” It is the fastest request type and ideal when a homeowner is shopping several dealers.
What is an Initial Packet?
An Initial Packet adds the visuals that sell the job: a dimensioned floor plan, wall elevations and 3D renderings in the selected door style and finish, combined into a PDF you can present or email.
What is a design Conversion?
A Conversion rebuilds an existing design — from another dealer, another cabinet line or another program — in the cabinet line you sell. It is the quickest way to compete on a job where the homeowner already has a plan.
What is in a Full Package?
A Full Package includes everything needed to quote and order: the layout, elevations, renderings, a SKU-level cabinet list and the native design file. Use it once the homeowner has chosen the layout.
How revisions work
Every 247 Cabinetry design includes 2 free revisions. Request changes directly on the request in your portal; if a revision is needed because of a design error, mark it “Revision due to design error” and it is always free.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upgrade a Design Start to a Full Package later?
Yes. Submit a new request referencing the original design and choose Full Package; the designer builds on the existing layout.
Which request type is fastest?
Design Start, because it focuses on the cabinet layout without renderings or presentation materials.
